Pansy 12 is one of a series of paintings created by artist, Laurie Koss, for her 2017 solo art show, Pansy. She has dedicated this painting to her Aunt Nora, who passed away August 30, 2021 at the age of 95.
In her family’s words:
“Nora was a treasure to all who knew her. Her positive, upbeat outlook on life saw her through raising seven children on her own, and her deep faith helped her weather all of life’s challenges. Everyone knew her as a source of strength, wisdom, and incredible wit. Nora enjoyed playing bridge and was a whiz at word games. During the pandemic, she quickly became adept at using an iPad to play online Scrabble and to maintain contact with family from all over.”
All proceeds from the sale of these limited-edition prints are donated to YMHC (Youth Mental Health Canada) in honour of Nora’s interest in the well-being of youth. The donations will help fund mental health resources for youth – very much needed as more adolescents than ever are experiencing mental health issues aggravated by home, social, and educational disruptions of the pandemic.
